An extraordinary carved folk art frame dated ‘1904’ immortalizing the Jamaica Plain Station Post Office. Highly detailed inscribed with messages pertinent to the Postal Service including, ‘Postage Due’, ‘Unclaimed’, ‘Missent (sic)’ and other messages. It has a locomotive, stars, keys on a chain, horse and buggy, a mailman delivering mail, a mail man sorting mail, period postage stamps of presidents and various tools of the trade including mail pouches. It has a photograph of a group of mailmen posing outside a post office. It also has the maker’s initials JP at the bottom along with, ‘Boston Mass Post Office’, and ‘U.S. Mail, Boston’.
