Impressive tramp art two piece cupboard. It has a wonderful curved ‘mustache’ pediment with glass doors on top, a large central drawer and doors to gain access to a bottom compartment. The cupboard has its original grain painted surface and is in excellent condition being both sturdy and well made. There are shelves inside both interior compartments.
Deaccessioned from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois American Folk Art Collection where it was on display in its Chicago office. It has been published in “Tramp Art A Folk Art Phenomenon” on page 83 and was also illustrated in the catalog,”American Folk Art.”
