Fine fanciful tramp art or folk art wall plaque in a sampler style embellished with numerous carvings of birds, an eagle, sunflowers in pots, a star, hearts, and other symbolic carvings. Made in the flat mosaic style by using flat strips of chip carving to ensemble a unique and inspiring statement. The plaque has the feel of fabric samplers made in the 1800s. There is a remnant of a New Hampshire newspaper affixed to the back.
The plaque is illustrated in A Legacy in Tramp Art on page 65.
Circa 1880s – 1890s.
