Large spectacular tramp art mirror with a heraldic crest of carved lions and topped with an eagle with spread wings. The mirror frame is dated 1922. One of the most patriotically expressive frames we have found. It is well made, sturdy and has precise carvings. The details of the eagle and lions are finely and delicately carved showing the lion’s mane and the eagle’s feathers. It is entirely decorated with wood of cigar boxes – the height of scavenged or found art!
Wonderful mixture of sculptural pyramids and roundels surround the central mirror. The surface has a warm patina and the frame is in excellent shape. A true patriotically inspired mirror frame. The mirror was found in the east coast of USA.
