A Folk Art masterpiece. A whimsy table with 90 carved whimsy chains topped with carved acorns, incised doves, stars, and the top has a crazy quilt insert. The quilt is original to the object, and is embroidered with the name, “Carrie.” Carrie was the artist’s wife. The whimsy ‘chains’ are each made out of a single piece of wood.
The legs are ball-in-cage whimsies also made out of single pieces of wood with twisted open-worked bottoms and each leg displays incised doves. It is embellished with the whimsy ‘chains’ on all sides. This is the most significant whimsy object we have ever come across and it is in exceptional condition.
