A fine tramp art stand with a dazzling mosaic of china shards referred to as Picassiette. It was the nickname given to Raymonde Isidore, creator of La Maison Picassiette in Chartres, France. The stand is eight sided with inset mirrors and is supported on slender legs incised with leaf shapes. There is a secret compartment containing a shelf hidden in the column that is accessed by turning one of the layered pyramids. The china shards are rich in color and content including a cat drinking milk and a shard labelled Buffalo Pottery dated 1916.
I have only seen one other large shard decorated tramp art object, the clock tower from Alsace, France illustrated in our fist book Tramp Art One Notch at a Time on page 34.
